2025: What Is the State of Your PMO?
| by Carrie Capili
The State of the PMO 2025 is open for your participation through February 14
Throughout the last 15 years, PM Solutions Research has conducted a study on the roles, functions, and maturity of PMOs. That’s a lot of valuable data over a pretty significant period of time! And we’re quite happy to say that during that time, we’ve seen the PMO grow from a rare departmental unit with limited powers, to a widespread organizational powerhouse that has given project management--and project managers--visibility and clout. As the average age of the PMO has increased, so has its capability and reach.
For the past five years, we have also continued to delve into the ways that PMOs and project management serve the strategic goals of organizations, focusing on the capabilities of the PMO instead of the PMO itself. You can get a pretty good picture of the ways that PMOs have changed by looking at some of our past studies, while checking out what our research reports usually look like:
- The Adaptive Organization
- How We Thrived: Virtual Project Management Practices
- The State of Project Management: Trends and Practices for a New Decade
And it’s once again time to frame a new picture of the PMO: an organization with strategic importance, deep knowledge of business and projects, wide influence over hiring, training, and rewarding of project personnel, and a home of agile transformation.
The new State of the PMO 2025 is open for your participation through February 14. Click here to add your experience and to receive the full report as a participant. We can’t wait to see what the landscape of this year’s research will outline!
