PMI Now Accepting Applications for the PMO of the Year Award

March 6, 2013 | by Jeannette Cabanis-Brewin

Talk about a win-win deal!

Big news: After seven years, the PMO of the Year Award, founded by the research division of PM Solutions, has officially become part of the PMI Awards program.

Here's the official announcement: "PM Solutions and PMI have come to an agreement to transfer the PMO of the Year Award program to PMI for the 2013 Award and beyond. The PMO of the Year Award is a perfect addition to PMI’s prestigious group of professional awards, and opens exposure of the program to a much larger group. Under the agreement, PM Solutions will serve as sponsor of the award for the next three years. We will be working closely with a team at PMI to ensure that transition goes smoothly. We will also continue to promote the award program call for entries and results as we have in the past through our website, email marketing, press releases, blog, and social media … and PMI will be doing the same. The award will be presented annually at the PMO Symposium, and co-presented by PM Solutions."

I confess to feeling a bit teary as I handed off the application process to our colleagues at PMI -- in a good way. It felt somewhat similar to sending your baby off to college. As part of the PMI Awards program, the PMO of the Year will take its place among a roster of "the best of the best." When we conceived of the award, back in 2005, it was because we felt that the awesome work of PMOs was not receiving enough attention, either from the press or from the executive level in their own companies. We have showcased exceptional PMOs in a way that draws attention to their accomplishments -- as well as to the field of project management in general.

Talk about a win-win deal! And, speaking of winning: you can't if you don't enter. Here's the link to the application materials: PMI PMO of the Year.

You can continue to discuss the award with us and your peers on the PMO of the Year LinkedIn group. See you there ... and maybe also in San Diego.
