No Dropped Connections: A Great PMO Focuses on Communication

September 24, 2010 | by Jeannette Cabanis-Brewin

... which makes sense, since our third runner-up in the PMO of the Year competition is Seattle-area--based telecomm company T-Mobile USA. An offshoot of the international firm Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile USA established an enterprise PMO that sits at the highest organizational level: its director reports to the COO. In the dynamic market of wireless devices and services, the nimbleness offered by portfolio and project management improvement can be a significant competitive differentiator.

If you've been reading these snapshots of our winners and thinking, Hey, my company does that, too! then mark your calendar: the PMO of the Year Award competition materials for the sixth annual contest will be posted in March 2011. If you subscribe to this blog, you'll get an early heads-up about the competion.

In the meanwhile, stay tuned: we will be blogging about, and from, important upcoming project management conferences, including PMI's Global Congress in Washington DC and the PMOSIG Symposium in Dallas.
